First Age Play Book, A Dom in Lingerie, Tattooed Hotties, and Apocalpyse+Romance?! (April Past Pages)

In 2024, I ran a series called ‘Past Pages’ in my reader group. Each month, I’d spotlight past books published during that month – sharing writing secrets, character insights, and the stories behind them. I even opened the floor for questions and comments. This year, I’m bringing ‘Past Pages’ to my blog! Feel free to join the conversation, whether you participated last year, or not. I’m excited to revisit these books with you!

His Little Man Part 1 by MA Innes - Gay Romance Book Cover

His Little Man Pt 1 (2016)

Oh I was really sure no one was going to read this lol.

When I first started playing around with the idea of writing age play, the only MM books I could find were really short and mostly just focused on the sex. So it never occurred to me that I could write longer stories with age play in them.

That was why these books are so short lol.

I legit didn’t think that anyone would read longer stories.

But thankfully, after these came out, I had several very chatty readers who made sure I understood that shorter was not better and they really wanted longer stories next time around.

If you were one of the first readers who comments on posts or messaged me about how much you loved these stories, I want you to know how much that meant to me. You kept me going and pushed me to become a better writer so I really appreciate it.

Let me know if you read these when they came out or later. I’m really curious to see how many of you have been with me since the beginning.

Answer in the comments: Do you have any questions for me about His Little Man?

Houston - Leashes and Lace Book 1 by Shaw Montgomery- Gay Romance Book Cover

Houston (2018)

When I first started to write these stories, I’d seen a lot of readers asking for recs about men in lingerie and I’d read some really fun books with that theme in them. But when I started poking at ideas I was thinking more typical sexy little twink.

However, the first character who started to talk was highly offended about my mental image of what a guy in lingerie would be like and he did nothing but complain about his dating life and then how hard it was to find a decent roommate.

He had a lot of complaints but he made me smile…and eventually he made his roommate smile too lol.

I’m not sure I have a favorite of these but Houston’s scene where he’s introducing himself to Reece for the first time is so funny.

Answer in the comments: But…who are your favorite characters from his series or what do you remember most about Reece?

The Only Way to Love- Mechanics of Love Series book 2 by MA Innes - Gay Romance Book Cover

The Only Way to Love (2020)

Usually I write a book and then about halfway through I start panicking over not having a cover lol. But this one was backwards. I fell in love with the cover and knew I had to write about him. (Probably because he looks a bit like a guy I dated a very long time ago lol)

I love bad boys who are really softies at heart.

And so did Jules.

The only thing better than softie tattooed hotties are the cute librarians who fall head over heels for them.

Yep, this book has some of my favorite types of characters and I love how mischievous Jules is lol. His Legos lol. He’s so much fun even though he looks so innocent.

Have you read his story yet?

Are you on the tattooed hotties side of things or the innocent librarian side?

Answer in the comments: Which type of character would be your favorite? Do you have any questions for me about The Only Way to Love?

When the Storm Comes - Trouble Comes in Threes Series Book 1 by MA Innes - Gay Romance Book Cover

When The Storm Comes (2022)

One of my guilty pleasures is anything to do with books and stories about surviving the apocalypse and things like crazy natural disasters. And when there’s a sexy romance thrown in it makes it even better. So this was a just for me passion project and I loved every second of writing this duet.

Snarky teasing.

Running from doom.

Restarting their life.

Kinky exploration.

It’s got all my favorite things all wrapped up and the only thing that could’ve made it better is if aliens had shown up.

I love their teasing banter and the sparks that come between them.

Answer in the comments: If you’ve read these what was your favorite part…and if you haven’t…what’s your guilty pleasure? What do you just love reading about? Do you have any questions for me about When the Storm Comes?

WIP Wednesday: Tickle Kink, Toy Selections, and More Paranormal Dramatic Cuties

I thought I’d start sharing more about what I’m working on here on the blog. WIP means work-in-progress, so this is going to be peeks at what I’ve been writing.

The main book I’ve been working on is expanding Hiding From Laughter from the Naughty November anthology last year. It had a tickle kink and a sub who was curious about being little but didn’t really understand that yet.

Here’s a little unedited taste of Hiding From Laughter (and a familiar face):

“Hey…this is going to be…” Sawyer’s voice had me looking up at my office door, but his frustrated and slightly embarrassed tone didn’t give me any hint about what he was thinking. He always sounded like that unless it was something he saw as strictly work related. “Howard sent me.”

Trying not to laugh, I nodded in understanding. “Closed door or open door?”

We had the weirdest boss and he had no social skills whatsoever when it came to anything…interesting.

Sawyer sighed, clearly relieved I wasn’t going to be a pain in the ass. “I don’t know. I’m supposed to ask if you know how many extra hours you’ve worked over the past couple of days.”

Looking apologetic and slightly worried, he frowned. “It’s really not my business, but if Howard has noticed then something is up.”

If you read Hiding From Laughter originally then you know that Ashton is avoiding talking about the kink he’s interested in and he’s not subtle about it at all. This should be up for Early Access PO very soon. Follow me on IG, join my Patreon for free, or subscribe to my newsletter to get notified when it’s up!

And I’ve got a peek at the new chapter for the Patreon book Watching Me:

Unique.

That was the only way to describe Axel.

“I…” He’d asked a question…right? Oh. “I still want to help pick it out.”

Yeah, I could kind of see why he’d wanted to double check that.

“I’m glad about that too.” Giving me a cute cheek kiss that didn’t seem to go with anything else we were doing, he glanced back down at his toys and smiled. “So no monsters. Any other limits?”

I wonder what kind of toys they’re picking out lol. Watching Me is my 3rd exclusive story on Patreon so far. The snippet above is from Chapter 15 but you can read Chapter 1 for free here (no sign ups required).

I’m also working on a thousand different shorts and bonus ideas, so next week do you want to see something from Austin and the omegaverse or a peek at alien fun or from Aubrey and Lincoln?

Oh, and I’ve got the start of the next paranormal book (I think the next paranormal book in the Southern Charm series).

“I don’t if she’s dead, undead, or a bitch…it’s still cheating!”

Just having coffee was starting to make me grateful my mother had raised me as normal. Well, human.

“Your dick doesn’t have to go visiting for it to be cheating!”

Yep, they weren’t normal or human.

Did his cock actually detach?

Did bitch refer to some kind of shifter or was it a pejorative?

Was it an appropriate argument to have anywhere, even in the strange little town I’d found myself in?

Check out The Handyman and The Drama Queen now on Amazon if you haven’t yet. There’s also a bonus epilogue on Patreon and an ALT POV coming next week there as well (both free, no sign ups required!)

As you can tell, I’ve been a busy bee and a very easily distractible one with everything running around in my head. But I’ll take too many voices and ideas over not enough, so I’m doing my best not to complain.

If you need big teases, not little ones, (I think all kinds are fun lol) then you need to jump over to Patreon .because even the free tier gets lots of fun goodies too. The newsletter also gets long excerpts from upcoming books, so if you’re somehow not getting those (I’m just shocked), you can sign up here for the weekly newsletters.

I hope you had fun with a glimpse into upcoming stories but let me know in the comments what other ones you want a peek at.

A Sweet, Happy Ending + Lots of Dirty Talk – The Handyman and The Drama Queen is Now Available on Amazon

Are you ready for some ghostly drama?

The Handyman and The Drama Queen is live on Amazon, and my drama queen and his Dom are very excited to show you how cute they are.

(Stone would also like you to know that he really enjoys getting Ezra wound up and he hopes you enjoy it too.)

Ezra is a drama llama and Stone is the Dom that loves making Ezra even more nuts than he already is. If it distracts his sexy new friend from his worries, well, that’s just a bonus. Another bonus is how much Ezra loves any excuse to complain and rant.

So he’s really doing Ezra a favor.

(That’s his story and he’s sticking to it.)

The Handyman and The Drama Queen is the start to a new paranormal series that’s going to have lots of fun people and interesting relationships. The town is wonderfully nosy and I’m having so much fun getting to know all of them.

Ezra is wonderful but he’s also snarky and dead. This isn’t taken too seriously and they both have questionable sense of humors, so if death jokes and an entire town not taking death that seriously bothers you, then it’s okay to skip this one.

I think they’re cute and I think the book is fluffy with lots of dirty talk…but me and Stone kind of share a sense of humor.

Don’t worry, though, this has a sweet, happy ending and it was so perfect for them that they made me cry. (They’re not supposed to do that. It’s against the rules.)

So have fun with my drama llama and his brat Dom.

I can’t wait to see what you think and see who you think should get a book. I’m kind of curious about the grocery guy myself but I could be talked into learning more about the librarian.

Also, once you’re done with the book, click here to read the free epilogue!

The Handyman and the Drama Queen by Shaw Montgomery

Ezra
Being dead sucks…but it starts looking up when a handsome handyman shows up and can actually see Ezra. Of course, he has to put up with the ridiculous handyman’s teasing and terrible jokes, but Ezra knows dead beggars can’t be choosers. He also knows there’s no way the captivating man is actually interested in a bored dead guy with an attitude problem.

Stone
Being newly dead is probably always difficult…but Stone doesn’t mind helping out the grumpy ghost with a drama problem. Ezra is cute when he’s being ridiculous and there’s just something about the man that pulls Stone in. Sure, they’ve got a few things to work out, but being dead isn’t a deal-breaker. They have enough interesting things in common that Stone knows they can work anything out…even a little problem like death.

When a happy handyman meets a dead drama llama, it’s combustible and complicated, but since love conquers all, they aren’t going to let a little thing like death stand in their way.

Author’s Note:
The Handyman and The Drama Queen has one live, slightly take-charge (we know what that means) handyman and one not-so-live drama queen who is very curious about his new friend. This is an irreverent, medium-steam HEA with a new ghost who’s still slightly frustrated by the way he passed on. See the author’s site for more details on the content.

His to Dare - Becoming His Book 1 by MA Innes - Gay Romance Book Cover

His to Dare

The photo on this cover was originally posted by a book cover designer and she was frustrated that she couldn’t do a cover with it because Amazon would never let it up on their site.

I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and quickly said I didn’t need to put it up on Amazon.

Well, one cover turned into a series and then I had to figure out what was going on with the character on the cover.

That was fun lol.

He liked ignoring the obvious in his life and he was definitely kinkier than he was trying to appear.

I love characters like that lol.

I had every intention of finishing this series quickly but life got in the way in several different ways. But I promise I have not forgotten them and I’ve been poking away at their last book.
The big problem now is that Smashwords was sold and is now owned by a new company that says the middle cover is too sexy for Smashwords.

Yep, you read that right. Tushies are too naughty for Smashwords. This timeline is getting weird.

But what do you think? Should the second book have a big censored label down the middle of his butt or should I do a very plain cover for Smashwords and then the sexy one on my site? I’m conflicted and that’s part of what’s distracting me from finishing the third book. Sorry about that.

Answer in the comments: Do you have any questions for me about His to Dare?

Our Boy - Our Love Series book 2 by MA Innes- Gay Romance Book Cover

Our Boy

This is the second book in the Our Love series and this was an interesting series and release. The jumping off point for this series was Bishop (one of Ian’s partners) when he was a side character in one of the L&L books.

But it took me a while to figure out what was going on with Bishop and who he was meant to be with. Honestly, it wasn’t until some of you guys started telling me about what you thought about him that I realized Bishop needed to partners and Ian would be one of them.

He’s a cute little and has the funniest friends. If you like the drunk nights that the omegas have and that were in some of the L&L books then you’ll love slushy nights with Ian and his friends. In fact, Kenton (one of his friends) is getting his own book and that will be out in April.

So, if you’re looking for a series to dive into that has side characters with their own books these guys would be a good place to start.

Answer in the comments: What was your favorite part about this series? Mine was Bishop and Cohen getting to drive Eli and Roman nuts. Every good sub needs a pony, right? Do you have any questions for me about Our Boy?

BDSM, Dirty Talk, an a Casual, Cheeky Take on Death – Pre-Order The Handyman and The Drama Queen Now

My ghost book…I’ve been calling it that for so long now I have to keep reminding myself it has a real title:

The Handyman and The Drama Queen

It’s now available on preorder and is almost ready to go. It’s part of a new series Myths, Legends, and Southern Charm and I’m so excited to finally show you guys what I’ve been working on.
Ezra is a newly turned ghost who’s just a bit dramatic, cranky, and frustrated at being dead and the way he became dead. He’s also more than a little interested in the new handyman who has been sent around to fix his disaster of a house.

And he’s still claiming the house as his even though he’s dead.

Stone is a handyman with an irreverent sense of humor and a thing for drama queens (and poking at drama queens). So he’s head over heels for the dead cutie with an attitude. He’s also very confused about how Ezra’s house turned out to be so dangerous, but he’s not worried. They can figure it out…while flirting and explaining the birds and the bees of BDSM to Ezra.

This has mild BDSM and lots of dirty talk…it’s also got a very…let’s call it cheeky take on death. I know that isn’t for some of you, but I think it’s fluffy and I think Stone’s death jokes are funny. (They’re also to make Ezra just a little bit nuts because he’s cute when he’s wound up.) But if talking about death and not taking it too seriously is a trigger for you then skip this one.

But don’t worry…this has an HEA even if it’s slightly unconventional and they’re stupidly happy at the end. (It made me cry…several times…stupid characters shouldn’t do that.)

I’m very confused about what triggers to list out, but primarily what I can think of is the Ezra being dead thing and no one taking that as seriously as it should be. He does not die on page. He’s dramatic on page. He’s also very curious about all the crazy in town and all the people he didn’t know were so interesting…like the ladies at the post office and the guy who runs the grocery store…oh and the librarian.

I like the librarian.

But not to fear, Stone’s mother is one of the biggest gossips I’ve ever met and he knows all the good stories around town.

I can’t wait to show you how this turned out and introduce you to Stone and Ezra if you haven’t met them yet on Patreon with the work-in-progress chapters I post there.

Here’s the first chapter of The Handyman and The Drama Queen. Have fun with my dramatic ghost and his cheeky new Dom.

Early Access will go live on March 16th and it will go live on Amazon on the 21st.

Untouched - Unconditional Love Series Book 3 by MA Innes - Gay Romance Book Cover

Untouched

Oh, Jay. Jay. Jay.

He was…he was hard to read from the start. I knew there was something different about him but he was standoffish and didn’t answer any questions. (Picture him with his arms folded frowning and almost pouting.)

But that turned out to be because he was really confused about a lot of things. Anything to do with people, really.

The other students on campus were a mystery to him and even in my head he was constantly confused.

I loved writing this series but Jay came from an interesting background. His picture was in the dictionary beside the word “sheltered”.

If you like cuties who are confused by the real world this is your guy. He’s also awkward and kind of nosy and kinkier than he realized. (This one is puppy play.)

This was fun and I think I’m going to have to go back and reread this one soon. I’m curious to poke at him and see what he’s up to.

Answer in the comments: What do you think? Should we get him a bonus chapter? A fun scene to see what he’s up to? If you’re read this one, what would you like to see? Do you have any questions for me about Untouched?

Almost Strangers by MA Innes and R. Pheonix - Gay Romance Ebook Cover

Almost Strangers

I wrote this one with R. Phoenix and that’s always a different process than when I’m writing on my own. My imagination always leans toward sweet and dirty but her imagination is a much more interesting place, and I think the combination always turns out great.

Almost Strangers is about two brothers who are basically strangers to one another. They don’t seem to have anything in common and from the outside looking in it doesn’t seem like they even like one another.

But as the book goes on, we see that they have more in common than they think.

Puppy play and kink.

Two fun things to have in common lol.

Part of the idea for this came from a Human Sexuality class I took in college lol so it was fun to be able to use that in a story.

Answer in the comments: Have you guys read this one? Any questions on what co-writing is like?
