WIP Wednesday: A Confused Daddy, A Text Convo, And Squirmy Subs

Shaw has made wonderful progress on the dragon book and with the Beautiful Shame book but she’s going to ignore everything else she didn’t get done.

But bonus goodies and silly stuff got progress too…so still going to ignore the stuff that didn’t get done.

I’ve made a lot of progress on the dragon book but I need to go back and do some rereading to remember some of the details. You’re going to want to get caught up on these guys before I can do much teasing but here’s a little peek for the next dragon book.

“Okay, where would I go if I was a slightly confused sexy Daddy?” He’d been watching everyone entirely too closely to be comfortable with the locals and I hadn’t seen him hanging out with any of the other Doms from the different groups. “He was curious but not confident yet.”

Hiding.

I’d be hiding and telling myself I was just regrouping or planning or another Dommy kind of buzzword.

Most of the upcoming teasers for stuff are going to be huge spoilers for the other dragon books. That means it’s time to get caught up so I can have fun driving everyone crazy.

What else have I gotten done?

Oh, I wrote a fun text conversation from Conner’s POV and someone else is getting to drive him nuts this time. This will be on my Patreon soon.

And one little tease about our new Beautiful Shame cuties:

One guess what we’re calling a hug here. Lots of cutesy talk in this one but it’s all very naughty and so much fun. Squirming subs are the best.

Okay, off to figure out what I’m supposed to be doing…probably something to finish getting Eddie ready for release next week.

Stressful Releases, Some Fave Characters, My Take on Aliens, and This Chapter Makes Me Cry (July Past Pages)

In 2024, I ran a series called ‘Past Pages’ in my reader group. Each month, I’d spotlight past books published during that month – sharing writing secrets, character insights, and the stories behind them. I even opened the floor for questions and comments. This year, I’m bringing ‘Past Pages’ to my blog! Feel free to join the conversation, whether you participated last year, or not. I’m excited to revisit these books with you!

Let’s take a closer look at 4 of the titles released in the past.

Curious Beginnings

I’ll admit that I was definitely in a learning phase when I wrote this, lol, but I really liked how it turned out until I got soooo much negative feedback from it. Some people hated how Sebastian didn’t have enough struggles with his bisexuality and other readers hated how the age play was presented in this book.

I think that’s part of why I haven’t gone back to play with those characters again. I love how this book turned out and how cute they are together, but man, my memories of this release are still stressful. It was the first time I saw how much the BDSM community can gate-keep and how people who play pretend will tell you that you’re playing pretend wrong (or you’re writing about it wrong because it’s not the way they do it).

That was really eye opening for me and still makes me nervous to this day.

But what makes it better is seeing how many of you really love this book and this couple. It still gets rec’d in groups and that just amazes me and makes me smile. So I want to thank you for that <3 Are you one of the wonderful readers who keep recommending this one? Have you read it yet? Do you think I should go back and expand this one? Brent

I love these guys and just this series in general. This book in general was the hardest because I could never decide how to tease Calen and what he likes. Should I tease what makes him different? Should I put it in the blurb?

In a weird way my ridiculous overthinking makes me feel close to Calen.

But they’re all some of my favorite characters because I spent so much time driving back and forth from my day job at the time, making notes into my phone about what would happen in the series.

LOL It was so weird to have to listen to the voice memos that I made as I drove. I’d have to sit down every night after my kids went to bed. I never got used to that but I have to admit it was helpful.

I think all those talking it out sessions might be the reason that I get so many random ideas when I get in the car now. Just driving to the grocery store gives me so many ideas that I have to take notes by the time that I park the car.

I think I turned myself into Pavlov’s Dog. But it was for a good cause because these books helped me be able to go to being a full time author and I’m very grateful for that.

My Cameron

You guys might’ve seen me talk about this one before but this book has a fun backstory. I’d seen a post in a book group talking about tentacle stories and some of the new erotica they’d seen. Everyone was kind of giggling about it and just finding it fun, but my brain couldn’t stop wondering what my take on tentacle p*rn would be lol.

It never occurred to me that it would end up as a series or mostly romance or how cute my aliens would end up being. At that point, I’d only seen erotic shorts with tentacled sea monsters and it didn’t really occur to me that it could be anything else.

That’s why I didn’t try to talk the characters out of the first scene being that crazy shower scene lol. And it’s why it took me so long to go from the first chapter I posted on FB just for fun to a full book.

I probably wouldn’t have stopped them if I had thought about it more, lol, but I would’ve taken more notes about what my plan was…and tried to come up with a plan. Thankfully a lot of you guys helped with plans along the way and a wonderful reader friend went through the first random chapters I wrote to make it into a full book with adorable characters.

Without Limits

The first chapter of this makes me cry every time I read it. It’s one of the only books I’ve written that does that to me no matter how many times I’ve read it…and I still torture myself reading that first chapter at least a few times a year.

But I love how sweet these two are and just how innocent Hayden managed to be as a kid even when his world was crap. I love how they support each other and how growly Trent is. He reminds me of a few guys I dated in high school.

I love those growly bad boys who protect what’s important to them…his best friend in this case.

Trent and Hayden have the most clear version of friends to lovers that I could imagine. They’re each other’s whole world and always have been.

I don’t like thinking how their life would’ve turned out without the other around. I think having someone there who loved and supported them completely probably saved their lives, and I think that’s why they ended up with such a fairy tale ending.

WIP Wednesday: A New Beautiful Shame Book

Shaw has written lots over the past week and on a variety of projects like the dragons and a naughty cutie in the Beautiful Shame side of things and more dragons (an alt pov for a Patreon bonus) and other random fun bits that may or may not go anywhere at all.

What Shaw has still not done is look for all the random starts to bonus chapters that have gotten lost in different files.

Can someone tell me why I only remember to do that when I sit down to write these posts?

In the last blog post, I showed you the chocolate starfish start lol and then said I was going to go figure out how the next dragon book starts. Well, that was how the next dragon book starts. It just took some poking to see who was talking to figure out it was Wren.

So now we’ve got a great start on the next dragon book and that means it’s time for the hard parts…like covers and blurbs and release plans and figuring out how to organize this into a new series. Any ideas for that? What do you think would be a great name for a spinoff series for the dragons?

And to share some words with you here is a peek at the next Beautiful Shame book.

Clearly I had an unexplored kink for suit porn and it was getting me in trouble. He was much more distracting in a fancy suit than I’d ever imagined but that was probably because I’d only seen him half-naked and in heels up until this point.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Conner.” For one thing, Cyrus was my friend and didn’t see me in the naked and doing stuff together category, and for another, I’d never explained about the weird kink thing. “He’s not—”

Shit.

He’d been entirely too close or Conner had been louder than I’d realized.

Maybe both.

“You screeched?” His laidback smirk and teasing had Conner rolling his eyes, but he didn’t seem put out. “What’s Wessie done already?”

Ugh.

“Stop calling me that here. It sounds like I’m a Pomeranian.” I was that annoying sometimes but I didn’t bite and I listened better than his mother’s miscreant mutt. “He misunderstood something. Go away and find someone to talk to.”

Considering we were at a BDSM club, with anyone else I probably should’ve said something naughtier, but Cyrus wasn’t that kind of guy. He was a chat in public and seduce in private kind of guy but he loved the atmosphere at the club and all the interesting people.

He was definitely the people person between the two of us.

Okay, off to figure out what else I started but forgot about. Wish me luck and the ability to stay on task.

Happy to be Stalked – Pre-Order Eddie for Early Access Now!

Me saying I don’t like many dark themes in books or much emotional angst between main characters will not surprise anyone who’s talked to me about books or who knows what I usually read. But sometimes the stuff the dark authors get to write about is fun…like stalking.

Yes, it’s wrong but we’re not talking about real life…this is naughty omegaverse, so we don’t have to worry about reality.

What we do have to worry about is a naughty omega who is very creative and makes terrible decisions from everything about his diet to who he’s dated. (And he doesn’t exactly regret much of it.)

Now, some of the issues that popped up weren’t his fault but that doesn’t keep his helpful online watcher from worrying. And with Eddie’s slightly skewed views of right and wrong, he’s not shy about handling things behind the scenes to make sure Shelby is safe and happy. (He’s kind of a hacker and we met him when they were setting up the club.)

And since Shelby is a cute attention-whore, having his online helper around makes him happy…until he decides he needs his online buddy to help him figure out where all the Doms are around town.
