Picnic Table Shenanigans – Kevin’s POV – Bonus Short

Picnic Table Bonus Short blog post image

Kevin is always eager to chat.

This is the conversation where TC (His to Use, Becoming His Book 2) went to the other kinky guys at the college to get more information on Dr. Sheppard, but this is from Kevin’s POV. I think you can read this even if you haven’t read His to Use (which is only available on my site and Smashwords if that gives you a hint about the content).

But if you want to catch up, now is a great time to grab the Loving Series or Becoming His series with the sale!

Have fun with a little bit of Kevin and the gang.

Kevin

“Oh, he’s coming.” It was going to be good…I just knew it.

“Who’s coming?” Bryan’s frown was okay but the way he started to turn around on the bench was not.

“Don’t look.” How did he not know that?

He was going to make everyone else look too.

Rolling his eyes, Bryan settled back on the bench and leaned closer as he shot me a glare. “I have to look because you’re not making sense.”

He was so dramatic sometimes.

“It’s the weird guy I was telling you about.” We’d talked about him just a few hours ago, so I wasn’t sure how he couldn’t remember that. I didn’t have any classes with the weird guy, but he just stood out in a crowd, so Bryan should’ve definitely already seen him around.

“Soup Guy?” Head cocking as everyone else tried not to snicker, Bryan frowned and still looked confused. “I really don’t understand how you think eating soup can be creepy.”

He needed to get out more…that weirdo was beyond creepy.

“It was serial killer weird.” Just my description should’ve made that obvious. “He’s going to be on the news someday. But no, this is the other weird guy. Sexy Frowning Guy. The one who’s into something kinky, but cool weird and kinky, not dead people in his basement weird and kinky.”

“Is having a dead body in your basement considered a kink?” Hayden was appropriately curious, but Trent looked like I’d offered to teach Hayden how to chop up a body.

“Don’t answer that.” The glare was sexy but he was the sensitive type and we had to be careful not to upset him.

“Stop talking or he’s going to think we’re the serial killers.” Maddox was trying to look just as laid back as Sexy Frowning Guy, but he was fighting off the giggles.

“We’re way too normal for that.” I really didn’t appreciate the way everyone had to press their lips together not to snicker, but before I could lecture everyone and remind them how weird the rest of the campus was, Sexy Frowning Guy plopped himself down unexpectedly.

Trent didn’t appreciate being startled and looked like he wanted to be the one chopping up Sexy Frowning Guy, but Bryan nearly jumped out of his skin. I was the most laid back and Trent was the most aggressive, so Sexy Frowning Guy was smart and focused on us. “I need to know if Dr. Sheppard is as open-minded as it sounds.”

Oh interesting.

But Dr. Sheppard wasn’t really my specialty, so I waited patiently for Bryan to handle it.

And waited.

And waited.

“This isn’t rocket science and you guys aren’t as subtle as you think.” That was complete bullshit, but I didn’t interrupt. “I didn’t sign up for the BDSM club because I’m not a joiner. But now I have a sub and I’m trying not to screw shit up.”

I knew it!

He was kinky.

Wait.

Who was his sub?

Who had I seen him with?

There was the guy who always looked like a scared rabbit ready to cry, but that didn’t feel right. He wasn’t anywhere near ready to submit to someone like Sexy Frowning Guy.

Who else?

Oh, he’d been at the library and had been sitting at the same table with the guy who stared at everyone’s feet.

Did Sexy Frowning Guy have good feet?

Maybe, but he wasn’t patient at all because he huffed and glared harder. “I can ask the questions here or sign up for the fucking club and learn what everyone’s deal is there. I thought this would be easier.”

He needed to work on his ability to give everyone processing time, but he was hot and kind of funny. “I never thought joining a club would be a threat. You’re interesting.”

I was going to have to remember that and find a way to use it.

Bryan seemed to have guessed that, though, because he worked up the nerve to glare at me in front of Sexy Frowning Guy. “You’re…”

Amazing.

Sexy.

The best almost big brother ever.

“It’s a simple question.” Sexy Frowning Guy seemed to think so, but he was wrong for a variety of reasons.

We didn’t know anything about him, so how much should we share with him?

Dr. Sheppard was entirely too trusting with people. What if Sexy Frowning Guy was the one with dead bodies in his basement?

Bryan, Maddox, and Jeremy were all thinking the same thing, but Hayden hadn’t gotten the psychic memo. “I think it’s going to depend on what you mean, but if you’re asking about kinks and different types of…let’s call them nontraditional relationships then yes, he’s open-minded.”

“How nontraditional?” Frowning Guy was being serious, but I couldn’t help snickering.

Bryan elbowed me and the look he shot me said he was going to lecture me later, but I was just glad he wasn’t looking so panicked any longer.

I was the bestest friend ever.

He was going to owe me.

Maddox seemed to realize that too because he leaned against the table and decided to take charge. “Can I be very straightforward?”

Yep, and in front of strangers, he could do it without giggling.

“Please.” Waving his hand around the table, Frowning Guy was looking like Frustrated Guy. “No one here is as subtle as they think they are and the BDSM community is way too open around here to hide much.”

Okay, maybe he had a point there.

“As long as it’s consensual and not harmful in a bad way, he’ll talk to you and try to see if he can help or answer your questions.” Maddox took point again and looked so confident I was pretty sure Bryan melted a little…probably because he didn’t have to talk and explain it.

He wasn’t good at mixing work and personal, so he was definitely glad Maddox continued to take point with the curious conversation. “I’m not breaking any confidences to say that he’s a little and has been in a long-term relationship with his partner. He’s also smart and not easily shocked.”

“Alright, thanks.” Sexy Frowning Guy got up like we were done, but I still had questions.

Lots of them.

“Wait. Are you sure you don’t want to come to the club or hang out?” It would satisfy my curiosity and it was technically the right thing to do.

The way Bryan had kicked my leg under the table said so.

At the very least, if his sub needed therapy then the guy probably needed friends he could talk to as well.

Sexy Frowning Guy didn’t seem to understand that, though. “I’m good. Thanks.”

“But I’m nosy and you’ve given me just enough to drive me insane.” And Bryan’s expression said he didn’t like the guy walking away either.

Laughter rolled around the table but Sexy Frowning Guy played it straight and almost glared at me. “I’d rather not give my boy a heart attack by telling him I told strangers at school what we were doing or why I was asking about a therapist.”

Well, at least he was a decent Dom?

“I’m a good listener.” Giving it one more try had him shaking his head.

“Nope. And you’re not my sub, so I don’t have to be manipulated by pouts or whines and you can’t bribe me.”

Sexy Frowning Guy was officially Sexy Stubborn Dom Guy.

“That sucks.” I’d figure it out, though.

As he headed off, probably to meet with his mysterious sub, I was polite and waited until he was out of earshot to say anything. “Okay, what are we thinking?”

“That you’re really nosy?” Bryan was trying to look professional but I knew he was just as curious as I was.

He was just supposed to pretend he wasn’t because Dr. Sheppard’s name had been invoked.

“That I’m hoping there’s not a bad reason he needs therapy?” Hayden looked at Trent and frowned and the big lug melted.

“Nothing the asshole said made it sound like there was that kind of trauma.” Trent reached over and ran his hand over Hayden’s head. “Whatever they’re into is probably just stressing the guy out.”

Oh.

Good point.

“That wasn’t trauma worry.” I’d seen that before. “That was my sub is a nutty worrywart and is making himself miserable kind of emotion.”

I’d seen trauma worry on Jeremy back before everything had gotten amazing.

Hmm.

Was it?

No.

Maybe?

Could he be a sarcastic annoying version of Jeremy?

“Don’t worry. If I see him around, I’ll pester him appropriately.” As long as Jeremy wasn’t around. I didn’t like the look he was aiming in my direction.

“Do you want to know how many times you called him sexy?”

Oh, I changed my mind…I liked the look he was giving me.

It was going to be the best direction ever.

I hope you had fun with this. It was a good way for me to get back in the heads of Kevin as well as TC and Perry.

The next Becoming His book should be out in February and I’m working on the plans for the next Loving book. So keep an eye out for news about both of those coming soon.
