Henley’s Nutty Personality – Read Chapter 1 of Blade Now

Henley's Nutty Personality - Read Chapter 1 of Blade Now - blog post by Shaw Montgomery

Monster time…Blade is live on Friday (tomorrow!) but I thought I’d share one last peek at it with you.

The first chapter is from Henley’s point of view and you get a fun peek at his adorably nutty personality. One review described him as a “beautifully neurotic mess” and I think that’s really accurate. Not that he sees himself that way.

Nope…he just charges forward and justifies all kinds of crazy with strange logic and a cheerful personality that always sees the bright side even when reality would be a bit more helpful.

Ready to meet Henley?

Henley

“Why does monster hunting always go so wrong?” Somehow I’d ended up stuck in the trap I’d set up instead of the monster I was supposed to be hunting and that was actually the least of my problems.

Because I liked being tied up.

“You can figure this out.” Giving myself a peptalk probably made me look nuts but I was hoping I was the only one in the sandy woods that surrounded Bladenboro. “You managed not to offend that Bigfoot. This is going to be fine.”

Nothing ever went fine, but if I repeated it enough, I’d believe it eventually.

“Okay. What do you do first?” If panic wasn’t an option, I needed to figure out a plan. “Um. What do I have in my pockets?”

Nothing helpful unless breath mints would help me get myself out of a rope net. It’d seemed like a good plan when I’d been going through my options, but somehow, I’d forgotten to include how fucking clumsy I could be into my metrics.

“Live and learn.” Yes. “I’ll remember for next time.”

Blade by Shaw Montgomery - Gay Romance Book Cover

Hunting The Beast of Bladenboro was supposed to be foolproof. It wasn’t a sentient creature I could have coffee with or chat with online. It wasn’t running an online jewelry store or complaining about how humans ruin the national parks. It wasn’t even on the list for the Solstice Festival.

It should’ve been a real monster I could save people from.

It wasn’t.

Somehow I had the worst luck of any monster hunter ever…and getting trapped in my own net was just the start. Things might be improving, though, as long as I can count finding my murder kitty, saving my mate from being trapped forever, and falling in love…yeah…things might be improving. Fingers crossed.
